Data reflect California Student Aid Commission (CSAC) estimates. The enacted budget aligns Middle Class Scholarship funding with CSAC's estimates for 2021-22 and 2022-23. For 2023-24, the budget act provides $864 million for the program—somewhat higher than CSAC's estimates.
The Middle Class Scholarship program was revamped beginning in 2022-23, with the new rules significantly affecting the number of eligible recipients and award amounts.
