a Includes reductions of $1.9 million pursuant to Control Section 4.05 and $1.2 million (10 positions) pursuant to Control Section 4.12 of the 2024-25 Budget Act. The Control Section 4.05 reduction initially included $500,000 from eliminating ongoing support for the Braille Institute, Los Angeles, but the enacted budget rescinds that reduction.
b The 2025-26 Budget Act shifts the California Newspaper Project from the State Library's budget to the University of California's budget. In a related action, the 2025-26 Budget Act shifts $430,000 from the State Library's local assistance budget to its state operations budget, effectively backfilling the reduction and making the funds available for general operating purposes.
