The Governor proposes to reduce the spending authority of the Department of Technology (formerly the California Technology Agency) by $15 million in 2012-13 and $1.3 million in 2013-14. The Department of Technology, in support of the Office of Technology Services (OTech), submits budget change proposals to adjust the spending authority for various information technology (IT) projects. (OTech provides IT services to a diverse mix of state, county, and federal government entities throughout California.) The purpose of these adjustments is to align the ongoing departmental budget with the actual expenditures for projects in order to maintain a connection between the spending authority level and the actual expenditure required to support the needs of OTech’s customers.
